Samsung on Thursday announced the launch of the 3D Map View feature, which was first introduced at the US CES in January and is now available in all countries with access to the SmartThings app.
Map View streamlines home management by converting real plans into virtual images in SmartThings. Users can view their devices and adjust lighting, temperature, air quality and power consumption anytime, anywhere.
Map View addresses the challenge of managing the growing number of connected devices in homes and makes smart home management easier by eliminating the need to find each device separately before using it. It shows users their entire home at a glance and updates in real time as more devices connect.
The previous version of Map View was a 2D model that only worked on homes where the floor plan was provided. However, this new updated version of Map View 3D takes advantage of the spatial artificial intelligence (AI) of Samsung devices - such as the Bespoke Jet Bot - using on-device LiDAR sensors to accurately measure and map the layout of a home. Now, users can more easily understand the shape and spatial conditions of their homes on 3D maps.
It has also improved the filter function to allow more efficient monitoring and control of the necessary devices. Its goal is to offer a more personalized and easy-to-use smart service by the end of the year through the use of AI characters, which were also presented at the 2024 edition of CES.
Map View is available through the SmartThings app on Android and IOS mobile devices, as well as televisions. Controls for this feature will also be available through additional hubs, such as Family Hub refrigerators, during the first half of the year.
The map can be seen on Samsung televisions.
Samsung's map will arrive in offices
Map View launched in South Korea and the United States last year. But now, it can be used in all countries with access to the SmartThings app. Samsung is collaborating with construction companies to expand Map View beyond homes to apartments and office spaces.
The company's goal is to help create intelligent environments for customers around the world by adding features. These include a user experience optimized for large screens that helps B2B operators with signage, and Quick Control, which allows users to easily access the most important functions.
