A Place to Fulfill the Dream of Being a Dog Opens in Japan

It's Tokotoko Zoo, created by a Japanese man who gained fame for appearing dressed as a dog on social media.

Toko became a social media figure for his obsession with becoming a dog. To do so, he appeared disguised in a suit that allowed him to walk on all fours and roll on his belly.

Now, he's created a space he called Tokotoko Zoo, a space that opened on January 26th, where anyone can fulfill their dream of becoming an animal.

Well, as it should be, specifically that animal is an Alaskan Malamute. The reason? The Japanese man explained that it's due to its size:

Because it's big and doesn't look abnormal when it's transformed into a suit.

To enjoy this attraction, attendees, who can go alone or in groups of up to three people, must pay $329 for 50 minutes in costume or $134 for 20 minutes.

Becoming a penguin or a dolphin? It's possible...

Although currently the place is for transforming into a dog, in the future the plan is for people to experience what it would be like to be a penguin, a dolphin, or a polar bear, as well as other canine breeds.

Toco became famous for posing in a collie costume, for which he spent more than $13,400. But now, the malamute costume cost more than $21,500, for the following reasons:

It has an internal camera in the costume.

People can see the outside of the costume, even their reflection in a mirror.

The tail can move and the mouth can open.

Greater flexibility to adapt to different body types.

The location is mobile and operates one day a month. It serves a maximum of two people per day, in order to clean the costume each time it is used.

How do you reserve a spot at Tokotoko Zoo?

So far, only eight people—all Japanese—have visited this dream space, and Toko hopes foreigners will also come.

Knowing that the desire to become an animal can bring unfavorable reviews, the entrepreneur enabled the online reservation system to allow the use of nicknames instead of real names.
